2008 Women's Conference "God's Grace - Day by Day, Stitch by Stitch"
|
"For it is by GRACE you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the give of God..." Ephesians 2:8
The Women’s Conference “2008" has come and gone. It was a day filled with excitement and lots of energy. Many hours of prayer, planning, and work became an exciting reality, on September 13.The night before the Conference, someone asked me if it was worth all the hours of work, which it took for this special event. I thought for a few seconds, and answered, “Yes, because there will be almost 300 ladies in attendance, all with different problems and needs, and some will not know Jesus as their Savior. Just one decision, for Jesus, would make it worth the exhaustion which I feel.
Jesus blessed us with beautiful weather, and the Country Store was an unexpected delight for the ladies attending. There are definitely a lot of women who love to go shopping. Our faithful ladies who set the store up, did a magnificent job in displaying all the items which had been donated, sewn and bought, over the past year. Several ladies did jellies and jams to fill the shelves and baskets . . . a true labor of love.
We certainly have some very talented actresses in our fellowship. Jane Carter, Tessa Bowers, Alma Mullins, and Tracy Bowers, in hilarious skits, did a splendid job displaying a true life picture of how we appear before we are saved and how God cleans us up, and then how, even after we receive Jesus, we become entangled with the problems of life, and yet again, God sends someone into our lives to help us become stable and productive, in the work of the Lord.
Doris Bowman, our guest speaker, is a special treasure in God’s vineyard. She gave many examples of how, in ever-day life, we can witness to those we come in contact with. Her admonition, was to not allow a day to go by without reaching out and witnessing to someone, and not to take ourselves too seriously. She emphasized that if we are a Christian, and can talk, we can witness. This was the fifth Conference, and another day of Spiritual renewal, and if there was anyone there who did know Jesus, they were fully informed by the end of the day. God blessed us with his overshadowing presence, for which we are all thankful.
A very special thanks to all those who helped make this year’s Conference a success, with JESUS being first on the list, and yes, next year’s conference is already on the drawing board, so please start praying for the “2009" Women’s Conference.
“You are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble; you shall surround me with songs of deliverance.” Psalm 32:7 (NKJV)
